Digha Beach

Digha beach is one of the most happening seaside city resort known for weekend destination for kolkatans.

Digha lies in East Midnapore district of west Bengal, India and at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal. It is around 183KM away from Kolkata. One can take a car or a bus from Kolkata or a train from Howrah. 

Holiday to Digha

Originally Digha was known as Beerkul during Warren Hastings time. The British discovered this in the late 18th century.

Old Digha

There are two Digha, One is old Digha and the other is new Digha. The old Digha is the central location however nowadays the new Digha takes the main centre stage for the tourist as it has a wider sea beach to play. It is around 2 Km to New Digha from old Digha.

New Digha

There are lots of transportation at Digha to take you around but nothing like an open air motorcycle rickshaw vans ride.

There are lots of hotels, but it is advisable to book in advance. This facility is available from the city office (Kolkata) as most of the big hotels have a counter in different part of the city. Apart from this, online booking too is possible. Most of the pictures or info on net are deceptive so one should be mentally prepared to tackle the situation when you land up at the spot. As this shouldn't be the case to spoil your trip.

To witness the sunrise one must be prepared to sacrifice the beauty sleep. The warm rays reflects on the sea is one of the most spectacular sights one can behold. If you miss the opportunity, well you still have a chance to witness the sun set.

Colourful hats

A hat, a cooling glass and sun screen lotion are all you need to have a good holiday. To add more flavour to your holiday you can buy a ball from the nearby stall and play in the water. Always wear a dress which is comfortable to you and keep an eye on your belonging or make one of your friends to look after while you are enjoying. It is advisable not to carry expensive items when to head to beach.

Go for selfie

If you are not in a mood to play in water well you still have a choice to go for a horse ride and make sure take a selfie.

After having a good time in water one can go for refreshing coconut juice. Well nothing like enjoying the yummy sea food- fish, prawn and crab.  After filling to brim, a lemon tea will do the job of keeping your stomach in order.
